Trust Profile & Network Terms
These Trust Profile & Network Terms ("Network Terms") govern public Trust Profiles, the Trooth Network directory, the witnessed record, and the requests, alerts, and badges that connect companies and buyers through Trooth, LLC. They supplement, and are part of, the Trooth Terms of Service. By publishing a Trust Profile, by viewing or subscribing to one, or by using the Network, you agree to these Network Terms.
1. Definitions
In these Network Terms:
- Trust Profile is a Trooth page that presents a company's witnessed posture, with the source and timestamp of each signal.
- Witnessed record is the set of observations Trooth has made about a Subject, each shown with its source and the time it was observed, as described in Section 2.
- Network is the Trooth directory together with the requests, monitoring, alerts, and badges that connect companies and buyers.
- Subject is the company a Trust Profile or listing is about.
- Buyer is a person or organization that views, requests, monitors, or subscribes to a profile.
- "Witnessed from live evidence" means derived from signals observed on connected systems, as distinct from self-claims or self-attestation.
2. What a witnessed observation means
Trooth does not publish a score, a grade, a rating or a rank. A Trust Profile reports individual observations. Each one names what was observed, the system it was observed on, and the time it was observed. There is no number that summarises a company, and no ordering of companies against each other.
An observation is Trooth's account, expressed as an opinion, of what a connected system reported at a point in time, made under a published methodology. It is not a statement of objective fact about a company's security or compliance, not a guarantee, and not an audit opinion, and reasonable methodologies may reach different results. Because an observation depends on third-party systems, it may be incomplete, delayed, or inaccurate. An absent observation means Trooth did not observe the thing, which is not the same as the thing being absent. Subjects and Buyers remain responsible for their own obligations and their own decisions.
3. Publication is the company's choice
Every Trust Profile is private by default. A profile becomes public only when the Subject explicitly sets its visibility to public, and the Subject can return it to private at any time. Trooth never makes a profile public without that choice.
4. Listings and accuracy
The Network may show limited factual listing information, such as a company name, a domain, and the fact that no witnessed profile exists yet. Any such listing is clearly labeled unclaimed and unverified. The Network never shows witnessed observations or connected data for a company that has not connected its own systems and chosen to publish. We provide correction, dispute, and opt-out paths, we do not knowingly publish false information, and we act on validated reports promptly.
Why we may list a company that has not signed up, and on what basis. Showing a limited, factual listing for a company that has not yet claimed a profile is processing we carry out on the basis of our legitimate interests, under Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR and UK GDPR and the equivalent grounds available under U.S. state privacy laws. Our interest is in keeping the directory honest and complete, so that a buyer can tell the difference between a company that has published witnessed evidence and one that simply has not, rather than reading a directory that silently omits everyone who has not signed up.
How we balanced that interest. We weighed our interest against the rights and reasonable expectations of the companies listed, and we limit ourselves accordingly. An unclaimed listing carries business information (a company name, a domain, and the fact that no witnessed profile exists), not personal information. We never publish witnessed observations, a rating, an inference, or connected-system data for a company that has not connected its own systems and chosen to publish. Every unclaimed listing says on its face that it is unclaimed and unverified, so it cannot be mistaken for an assessment. We do not sell listings, and we do not use them for advertising. Correction, claiming, and removal are free, require no account and no payment, and are answered within the times published in Sections 6 and 7. Where a listing does incidentally involve personal information, for example a sole trader whose business name is their own name, the same basis and the same routes apply, and you may object to the processing at any time by writing to privacy@trooth.co. We keep a written record of this assessment and will provide it on request.
5. Claiming and verifying a profile
A company can claim a profile by verifying control of its domain, for example through a DNS TXT record. Verification confirms control only. It transfers no rights and does not by itself make a profile public. Claim a profile only for an organization you are authorized to represent.
6. Corrections and disputes
You can submit a correction through the profile or by contacting us with the profile, the disputed item, and the correction sought. We acknowledge validated requests, review them in good faith, and correct, annotate, or remove inaccurate information. Disputed items may be labeled while they are under review.
How long a correction takes. We acknowledge a correction or dispute within two business days of receiving it. We resolve it within ten business days of that acknowledgement, by correcting the item, annotating it, removing it, or explaining in writing why we believe it is accurate. If we need information only you can give us, that clock pauses until you send it. While an item is genuinely in dispute we label it on the profile, so no one reads a contested figure as settled. If we decline a correction you can ask us to look again, once, and that second review is done by someone who was not involved in the first. Corrections are free.
7. Opt-out and removal
A Subject may opt out of public listing and request removal of an unclaimed listing at any time. On a validated request, and after confirming authority, we set the profile private or remove the unclaimed listing promptly. We may retain limited records as needed for operations and legal obligations.
How long a removal takes. We remove an unclaimed listing, or set a published profile private, within five business days of validating that the request comes from someone authorized to make it. Validation normally means confirming control of the domain or replying from an address at that domain. Removal is free, needs no account, and you do not have to tell us why. Once removed, we do not re-create the listing from the same source.
8. Buyer requests, monitoring, and alerts
Request-a-profile, monitoring requests, and alert subscriptions are introductions only. A company is never obligated to publish, connect, track, or respond, and Trooth does not act for a Subject. Alerts may be delayed, batched, or missed, and must not be relied on as a sole control. Every alert and digest includes a way to manage preferences or unsubscribe.
9. Acceptable use of profiles, badges, and alerts
When you use profiles, badges, requests, or alerts, you agree that you will not:
- present a profile or badge as a certification, guarantee, audit opinion, or endorsement;
- alter, fabricate, or misrepresent a profile or badge;
- scrape the Network or build a competing directory;
- use requests or alerts to harass or spam, or to send data a Subject has not authorized;
- submit unauthorized or knowingly false claims, requests, corrections, opt-outs, or disputes.
We may suspend or remove anyone who violates these rules.
10. No certification and no warranty
The Network, profiles, badges, and alerts are provided "as is" and "as available" with no warranties of any kind. Trooth does not certify, guarantee, or warrant any company's security or compliance, nor that profiles or alerts are accurate, complete, current, or uninterrupted. Nothing here is legal, audit, or certification advice.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Trooth is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business. Trooth's total aggregate liability is capped at the greater of the amounts you paid to Trooth in the prior twelve months or US$100. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these limits may not apply to you.
12. Trademarks and the trust badge
Subject to these Network Terms, Trooth grants a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to display the "Witnessed by Trooth" badge solely to link to the Subject's own live profile. The badge must remain unaltered and must never imply certification or endorsement. Trooth may revoke any misleading use.
13. Personal data
Our handling of contact data submitted in requests, subscriptions, claims, and disputes is described in the Privacy Policy and, where applicable, the DPA. You represent that you have the authority and rights needed for the data you submit.
We do not train AI models on your data. Nothing submitted through the Network, including corrections, disputes, claims, requests, and connected evidence, is used to train foundation models, and we do not sell or share it so that anyone else can. The full commitment is in our AI Policy.
14. Changes to these Network Terms
We may update these Network Terms. For material changes we will update the date and, where appropriate, add notice. Continued use of the Network means you accept the updated Network Terms.

Send corrections, opt-out requests, and disputes to Trooth, LLC at legal@trooth.co, with enough detail to identify the profile and verify authority.
Revision note. Revised 3 September 2026. Section 2 previously described a composite witnessed Trust Score. Trooth no longer computes or publishes one, and a Trust Profile reports individual observations instead, so the section now describes what a profile actually contains. The limits on what a profile asserts are unchanged, and the correction is recorded under our publication and correction policy.
Revised September 4, 2026: descriptions of retired features (composite figure, plan tiers, TruePass badge, Verified Inquiries) removed; the document now describes the witness record as published. Sections 4, 9 and 10 still named the retired composite alongside profiles and badges; those references are gone and no restriction was narrowed.
